Argumentative Essay

In the United States, interracial adoption has become increasingly accepted, although the topic still provokes debate. Supporters of interracial adoption argue that not only does interracial adoption provide an inviting and loving home for the child, but also helps celebrate diversity among the household. Those against interracial adoption argue that the children being adopted by those of a different racial heritage often suffer from loss of identity, feelings of loneliness, and feelings of not belonging.

Personally, I feel like as long as the children are being adopted into a loving household it shouldn’t matter what race adopts them, however, I do understand both argument points. To be honest, I was interested in this topic in the 11th grade for a similar argumentative assignment, but instead I chose to write about something else. I’ve done a lot of research on the topic already, and this just seems like the perfect time to write about it.

  2. I love this topic. I feel the same as you towards interracial adoption, it shouldn't matter what household the child grows up in. I would love to learn more about it and am interested in reading your final essay.

  3. I agree with you that it shouldn't matter what household they grow up in, but it was neat hearing that there are some downfalls of it. It would be interesting to hear more about this topic.
